Te Pura O Te Rahura’a is the award-winning Polynesian dance troupe of Spark of Creation Studio located in South San Francisco, California. Founded in 2006 under the dedicated direction of Marilou Ubaldo Lafon and Randy Lafon, the troupe specializes in presenting songs and dances from the enchanting islands of Hawaii and Tahiti, preserving the rich Polynesian culture through the vibrant performing arts. Committed to nurturing individual talents, fostering self-esteem, and cultivating an appreciation for the cultural essence, dances, and music of Polynesia, Te Pura O Te Rahura’a caters to both recreational and competitive dancers, spanning from ages 3 to adults. The troupe actively participates in group and solo competitions across California, Hawaii, and Tahiti, earning accolades such as the overall professional group at the Tahiti Fete of San Jose and the Hura Tahiti Competition in Fullerton, California. Their mission is to share and inspire love for the Polynesian culture, continuously enriching experiences and deepening knowledge through collaborations with renowned hula and Tahitian directors, dancers, and artists. While remaining faithful to traditional dances, Te Pura O Te Rahura’a’s original choreography seamlessly blends traditional and contemporary elements, crafting a distinctive and captivating style.
